road traffic noise model
Authors
abstract
background : the recognition of road traffic noise as one of the main sources of environmental pollution has led to develop models that enable to predict noise level from fundamental variables. traffic noise prediction models are required as aids for designing roads and highways. in addition, sometimes are used in the assessment of existing or envisaged changes in traffic noise conditions. in this paper a statistical modelling approach has been used for predicting road traffic noise in iranian road conditions. methods : the study was performed during 2005-2006 in hamadan city, in the west of iran. the data set consisted of 282 noise measurements. the entire data set was utilized to develop a new model for iranian condition using regression analysis. result : the developed model has twelve explanatory variables in order to achieve a proper fit for measured values of l eq (r 2 = 0.913). conclusion : the proposed road traffic noise model can be effectively used as a decision support tools for prediction of traffic noise index of l eq(30min) , in iran's cities.

full textAssociation of Road Traffic Noise Exposure and Driving Behaviors
Background: The noise caused by traffic is an increasingly prominent feature of urban environments. However, limited studies have been focused on the assessment of exposure-response relationship between road traffic noise exposure and driving behaviors in Iran. The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of the violations caused by road traffic noise exposure in Qazvin, Iran. Methods...
full textA Compact Model for Predicting Road Traffic Noise
Noise is one of the most important sources of pollution in the metropolitan areas. The recognition of road traffic noise as one of the main sources of environmental pollution has led to develop models that enable us to predict noise level from fundamental variables. Traffic noise prediction models are required as aids in the design of roads and sometimes in the assessment of existing, or envisa...
full textStructural equation model of road traffic noise annoyance in Vietnam
The exposure-response relationships for road traffic noise annoyance in Vietnam were proposed according to over 4700 responses obtained in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hue and Thai Nguyen. However, the variation of the exposure-response curves found among the five cities implied that discrepancies could occur between different geographic regions like the north and the south of Vietnam. To asses...
full textRoad traffic noise and children’s inattention
BACKGROUND An increasing number of children are exposed to road traffic noise levels that may lead to adverse effects on health and daily functioning. Childhood is a period of intense growth and brain maturation, and children may therefore be especially vulnerable to road traffic noise. The objective of the present study was to examine whether road traffic noise was associated with reported ina...
full textAreawide Road Traffic Noise Contour Maps
In this study a framework for developing an object-oriented tool –DRONE (areawide Dynamic ROad traffic NoisE simulator) to generate areawide noise contour maps for a road network is demonstrated. This provides faster access to information for abatement of noise policies. The approach for integrating the dynamic output from traffic simulator to noise model, which predicts traffic noise based on ...
